John, I am the Minister of Music that I am today due to the HUGE influence you had on my life as a young, dumb kid who had some talent but no direction. I can not begin to tell you how many times I have stopped and asked myself, "how would John handle this". I am honored to call you my friend and one day, when we are in Heaven together, there will be people that will come up to you and say thank you for believing in me and helping become the force for Christ that I am now. Thank you John.
Your Friend,
Bill Brown |

Are your arrangements on the site for sale with piano accompaniment? I need some new solo music, especially flugehorn.

Hey John! Cool website! It seems like a lifetime ago when you were at FBA with us-(can you believe what a good arranger Jeff Cranfill is now!?!!) but what a blessed time it was. Last time I saw you was in the 90's when you came to East Cooper Baptist in Mt. Pleasant, SC to do a clinic with our orchestra (we are 40+ strong now & our director is Todd Jenkins; also a fantastic trumpet player!) Charles Maxwell told me about this site & that you had left & then gone back to CA.
It would be so wonderful to see you again & play under your direction. Take Care!! |

One of the biggest hoots was meeting Doc Severinsen. Johnny and I snuck backstage where our humble and modest Mr. Gage said, Doc, I am Johnny Gage and this is my principle trumpet student, Jay Glasgow. Doc politely shook my hand and said hello, and then said something that made my jaw drop to the floor. He shook Johnnys hand as he said, So, you are THE Johnny Gage.
For many of us that have had the privilege and honor to study under Johnny, we are aware of the impact of his dedicated teaching immediately while we are in the thick of it. But we do not realize the depth and reach of his influence until many years later.
P.S. I want the Moeck c3w mouthpiece when you are done with it, Johnny.

It is a thrill to find your website. Several years ago, I had the grand honor & privilege to play under you at a concert by the Kentucky Baptist Convention at First Baptist Church in Bowling Green, KY. This was one of the most blessed experiences ever as a church musician & I appreciated the scripture reading after each piece we performed. I was one of two bass trombonists (I also play tuba). I hope someday I will have that privilege to play under you again. You are truly a blessing. |

John,
What a nice surprise to meet you in person at our East Wing concert at the Nixon Library recently!
My trumpet students and I are really enjoying your warmups book and the example/playalong CD is an excellent idea - Many of my students' families are raving at the nice, musical sounds coming out of the practice room, when once, only exercises dominated the air! ;)
Looking forward to the next book - saw a sneak peak at the text, but did not get to hear the CD yet.
Thanks for your ministry and heart - please include this in your encouragment file for future use!
